I've been sewing as long as I can remember, helping my mom with halloween costumes as I grew up. I didn't really start sewing independantly until high school, and then once I began working in the theater costume shop in college, my skills really took off. Thanks to my budget and location, I don't get to as many conventions as I'd like. But I absolutely love group cosplay and meeting new people through it. If you have an idea you'd like to include me in, please let me know and I'll probably jump on it.
For me, cosplay is my visual art. I suppose the reason I love it so much is that I can take something in a 2D drawing and turn it into a 3D masterpiece after much sweat and blood. I don't have a particularily good artistic vision to design things on my own, but in costuming I can take pre-existing designs and add my own vision to them.
I just graduated frp,Oberlin College studying East Asian Studies and Math while dabbling in music. I'm really not sure what sort of career is ahead of me, but I'd love it to involve traveling or living abroad. In the mean time, I spent what little time I'm not doing schoolwork or sewing writing Sailor Moon fanfiction, original fantasy, singing both chorally and classically, and playing oboe.
Currently, I'm on a fellowship to Himachal Pradesh, India where I will be teaching English, among other things, for a women's right's group called Jagori.
