Stylized Anthy and Utena
When I picked up a copy of Animerica Extra in my school library to read the finale of Utena, I found a beautiful piece of art on the cover. Immediately, I knew that I had to make those costumes some day. So I grabbed Nanashi, and we did.
This was a gradual six-month project, collecting materials little by little. Our costumes were almost entirely made of polysatin with touches of model magic everywhere. SoA did pretty much everything for the costumes, with the exception of the flowers on Nanashi's jacket, which she labored over right before the con. Styling the wig was an adventure, but it turned out great.
The reason we love these costumes so much is because of how regal we can feel in them. All the shimmer, sparkle, and gold just makes them stunning.
